Chinese Communist Party’s foreign affairs cell chief arrives in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU, Sept 23: Head of International Department of Chinese Communist Party Central Committee Song Tao arrived on a three-day visit to Kathmandu on Monday.
Deputy Chief of NCP’s School Department Beduram Bhusal, Deputy Chief of party’s International Relations Department Chief Bishnu Rijal and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi welcomed the Song-led Chinese delegation at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
The Chinese delegation is visiting Nepal at the invitation of the International Relations Department of ruling Nepal Communist Party, according to Rijal, deputy chief of the department.
The Chinese delegation will join a two-day high-level interaction between top leaders of NCP and the Communist Party of China that begins later today. The interaction program is scheduled to begin at Hotel Yak and Yeti at 5 pm today, according to Bhusal, the deputy head of NCP’s School Department.
The interaction will focus on Chinese President Xi Jinping’s thought on comprehensive enforcement of party discipline and joint bid for building the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
The interaction is being organized for the first time in history of the two communist parties.
Nepal and China are organizing this kind of interaction at a time when President Xi is expected to visit Nepal next month. The visit will be the first visit of a Chinese president after 23 years. The bilateral relations between Nepal and China are deepening after India imposed an economic blockade on Nepal over some provisions of constitution in 2015.
The interaction, according to the program schedule circulated to party leaders, will focus on four key issues: building of moderately comfortable society, comprehensive enforcement of party discipline, comprehensive deepening of reform and joint bid for building BRI and community future of mankind.
A group of selected leaders representing both the parties have been invited to attend the interaction that is scheduled to be inaugurated by NCP chief and Prime Minister KP Oli amid a function at a star-hotel in Kathmandu. Song Tao, head of the international department of the CPC, will deliver a key note speech at the function.
Two different invitations cards—one for inaugural session and the next for special thematic session—have been distributed to the participants.
Only NCP’s secretariat members, standing committee members and selected central committee members have been invited to the closed-door session.
At the interaction, Cao Li of CPC’s Central Party School will present a paper on “Completing the Building of Moderately Comfortable Society”. CPC’s central organization committee leader Xu Nan Peng will deliver speech on comprehensive enforcement of party discipline.
Qin Gang of CPC’s Central Party School will give orientation to party cadres on comprehensive deepening of reform whereas Shi Yu Long of National Development and Reform Commission will present his views on joint bid for building BRI and community future of mankind.
“As many as 250 participants will attend the closed-door session although few more party cadres could attend the inaugural session,” said an NCP leader involved in arranging the interaction.
The leaders said Chinese leaders will share Chinese President Xi’s views on maintaining discipline in party rank and file and implementation of the BRI for benefits of both the countries.
“They will share views of Chinese Communist Party’s ideology, which of course, is the thought of Xi Jinping,” said the leader.
